“With a clear sense of purpose, we can set priorities.” The Guiding Principles – The Spirit Of Our Traditions. (NA)
Mother’s Day debacle in my personal sphere: I say sphere as it’s not in my world, and when it was attempted to be forced into my world by others, I shut the door on it immediately and … walked away. The interactions/hearsay/behaviors this week with Mom, _______ and _______ … unreal. Mom is the only one who “gets a pass.” Through a Higher Power, I can understand my purpose no matter what insanity was being perpetrated by well-meaning (yet completely screwed up) people. My Higher Power lets me know when to stay and when to leave. It was a “Grinch” scenario, with me deciding not to touch any of it with a “29 1/2 foot pole!”
I had decided to spend a considerable sum of Mom’s money on retaining Elder Care attorneys for her benefit. I faced emotional murmurings, concerns and distress around this decision. When the phone rang today and the caller was “unknown,” the Spirit led me to do what I normally don’t do and I answered the call. It was the attorney’s office checking in and up on Mom. There were doors that could now be opened for her with the firm’s help.
There wasn’t much more I could have asked for… Mom is moving from moment to moment. I keep showing up. My prayers of late have been “show me where you want me to go, show me what you want me to do and give me what you want me to say and who you want me to say it to.” I show up for Mom when I want to; when I don’t want to. I listen and I tune out. We laugh together. We talk together. We love one another even when may not actually like one another.
