“Just For Today… I will surrender to win.” Narcotics Anonymous
Together with a Power greater than myself and skilled and knowledgeable legal guides, I move mom into the next phase of her life. 90 years old on Saturday. As Mom spends down her time here (and, hey, no drama please… we are all spending down our time) we also spend down her funds and set up care for her that may be needed on the turn of a dime. We have a goal and a purpose for doing the things that this entails, and that goal is to keep mom in her home.
I will stay in position, attentive to the call. The assignment. I am not alone. I am where countless, countless other children of aging parents have been. This is a golden opportunity to spend the time with Mom and to learn and learn and grow and grow. Closer to a Higher Power than ever before. More peace of mind and heart than ever before. Mom can no longer “cast her cares” upon her Lord, so I am called to stand in the “gap” for her and connect with the God of my understanding.
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
1 Peter 5: 7
“…Just For Today I will be unafraid. I will try to get a better prespective on my life. My thoughts will be on people who are not using and who have found a new way of life.”
“Just For Today”. Narcotics Anonymous
I choose to lay down my weapons and leave them on the battlefield of my mind and walk away. Surrendering to win. The battle is my Higher Power’s. The victory is My Higher Power’s and I choose to believe it is certain.
