Got a call yesterday morning from Barb, mom’s aid… Mom was on the floor when she got there. I checked the ring cameras and sure enough, Mom slipped off of her recliner and ended up spending a total of 12 hours on the hardwood floors, unable to get herself up. Dozing on and off. It was heart wrenching, literally, to watch. Mom was hurting, no surprise. First dose of morphine in the morning. New territory. Another dose for the evening. Now, I’ll be checking the cameras more routinely. It was a lesson learned.

I shied away from looking at Mom on camera because of the feelings it stirred that I don’t want to feel. Actually, if I surrender them to my Higher Power, they can be “felt and dealt.” Another lesson learned. All 3 kids called and friends and my beloved sponsor all called out after I texted them for support.

Going to call Bayada Hospice and find out if Mom can have a sponge or bed bath. Oh, and P.S.: video shows she crawled up and down the stairs last night to go to the bathroom: will NOT use the commode.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
the courage to change the things I can…
and the wisdom to know the difference.

Anthony called me yesterday and we had our usual “love connection.” He’s my man! … and he shared something that I loved… a gift, really. The most recent package I sent to him and Sienna “smelled like your house Mom, and it was pleasant and comforting.” Wow.
